Methenamine

Methenamine (often as hippurate or mandelate salts) is a prescription antibacterial agent used for the long-term prevention and suppression of chronic or recurring urinary tract infections (UTIs). It works by breaking down into formaldehyde in acidic urine, which kills bacteria. It is not used for acute, active infections.
